i hateeee flea season

seasideficsgetting bit really bad all over my feet AGAIN. it happens every summer istg, and once it starts keeping me from sleeping (like last night) i just get so fcking fed up, so i'm gonna ask today if #brother can pretty please put flea medicine on his cat, and i'm probably gonna come back here crying bc he was #mean and made me cry :D
he is so weird abt this topic and every single time it has started a legitimate argument because it is just so impossible for his perfect cat to have fleas. like i know I'm being a bitch rn sorry... but i'm just so done with him getting so triggered over this and his insecurity towards his cat? he has some kind of superiority complex abt him (i wish i was lying) and he just takes anything as an attack on himself, and i think he really thinks I'm saying "he's a bad cat owner" or something, when i point out his cat has fleas. at least i know it's not just a me thing, since he will even argue with vets about this....
i think he thinks we unfairly "target" his cat, but the only reason i even ask him is because HE LETS HIM OUTSIDE EVERY SINGLE DAY WITH NO FLEA PREVENTION. both of mine are strictly indoor, so they're not the ones bringing it in!! also, if he were to say the same about my cat, i wouldn’t care!! i’d be like, “oh, you’re probably right. i'll put it on them,” and leave it at that, but nooo, he acts like i just said the biggest insult towards himself and his cat.
i'm getting myself so worked up, my bad... he just always has the same excuses when i ask him this every summer (you’d think after 6+ years he would try to see it from my side...), where he says, “you have to be getting bit by something else since the cat sleeps with me and i’m fine,” “you would see the cats scratching (which i do..admittedly not a lot), so they can’t possibly have it,” and “flea bites wouldn’t do that much damage.”
also, i’m just way more annoyed/triggered about this topic because last summer, my senior cat thor had what was presumably an allergic reaction to a flea bite (the vets kept saying that was the most likely cause, but he of course argued with them using the same logic as above and even said it was because of giving him flea medicine...never mind he had already had a bite before all of that, and it was why i gave him the flea medicine in the first place). and i kept getting told different ways to treat it, and it ended up so much worse with him getting skin lesions covering his entire back, and he had to be shaved and treated at an emergency clinic... and i do not want a repeat of that.
anyways, we’re supposed to be going to the pet store today, so when we’re there i’m gonna slip it in and ask... and hopefully he’s changed? i doubt it, and i fear i’m gonna press and try to argue back reasonably, like that even if he doesn’t think his cat has fleas, wouldn’t it be better to have it just in case, since he lets him outside almost every single day???
