god, i’m so endeared by kyo and yul. like, okay, i follow a lot of seunghan stans on twitter — which, btw, we need a new fandom name because seunghan didn’t even know about hongjjanggus. thinking back, it kinda makes sense, because i’m pretty sure he just mentioned it in passing at a fansigning when someone asked what he wanted us to be called. but it’s hilarious that everyone’s been calling each other that for two years, and then the man himself was like, “idk even what that is.”
anyways… what was i saying?
oh!! i know some seunghan stans don’t like all the attention the others are getting and don’t want people to “stan” them since we’re here for seunghan. but idk, man, i think we can do two things at once — because i love them all. i get the worry, but i really do think seunghan wants us to like them and semi-interact with them. i mean, he did a bunch of lives where he had them introduce themselves to us, and now they’re even promoting with him, so c’mon... i’m gonna talk about and love yul and kyo — the xoul of xnghan&xoul.
i fear i’ve just grown so attached to them… maybe because seunghan himself just looks so happy with them.
there’s this one clip in the introduction video… and we can all kind of infer it was filmed a while ago, probably when they were prepping him to rejoin riize, since he’s wearing the exact same outfit and standing in the same background as one of the photos posted during that time. and the difference in his eyes… they just look so sad. (1:45 www.youtube.com/watch)
i know people have been kinda annoying with overanalyzing the piercings (which ... okay, context — and i should have been giving this from the beginning because i’m talking like everyone already knows who this man is lol — but he mentioned on a live that anytime he felt really depressed or was in emotional pain, he’d get a new piercing) and in that photo... there’s a bunch.
but if you compare that look in his eyes to the current shots with yul and kyo? night and day. they just seem so good for him. they’re so supportive too — especially kyo. first person to comment on his posts every time.
like okay, lil buddy, get in line. we know you love him lol.
i just... i love them. it makes me so happy to be able to witness seunghan overcome everything that’s happened and have a fresh start — and to have these new guys by his side. this concept itself is just so interesting and refreshing because these professional dancers are kinda getting thrown into the idol world, and they’re getting the fan recognition/attention they didn’t get before when dancing on previous tours, y’know? it’s just so cute to see them having their very firsts, and seunghan silently leading them.
i’m really curious about when they officially met each other and how long they’ve been prepping for this. maybe around when seunghan opened his insta? so it hasn’t been that long, yet there’s already chemistry! which, okay, this video of them reacting to the mv — we can already see a bit of their dynamics. seunghan trying to be all nonchalant when they bring him a cake for debuting... and their message, ahhh: “great job coming this far. we’re here because you’re here.” and kyo being so smiley and hyper. yul’s such an anxious lil overthinker, always imagining what if scenarios — like what if they just left him randomly lol.
www.youtube.com/watchokay i'm talking about kyo a lot but i just really like that guy right now. he's so supportive! best lil hype man. i was gonna link the debut showcase because i think the dynamics were so telling—it honestly just made me smile a bunch, and i stayed up late to watch it live—but it seems to have disappeared off youtube. i can’t find it anymore.
but yeah, while seunghan and yul were obviously nervous (tho seunghan was trying to act like he wasn’t), kyo wouldn’t shut up. he was just so loud and talkative, total mood maker, and it really eased the tension.
ok i need to stop treating him like an idol because technically he isn’t… but kinda is? i don’t know. or maybe i should be using the word artist. that’s why all of this feels so refreshing. seunghan himself said it—he’s an artist, not an idol.
i’ve very obviously grown so fond of these guys, and i’m low-key forgetting they’re not actually permanently part of xnghan & xoul… man, this is why i refused to get into nct dream back in the day! i can’t handle rotational or graduating concepts.
selfishly, ngl, i almost wish they would be permanently added, but that’s completely unfair to yul and kyo. they’re not idols, they didn’t train to be, and they’re not under contract with sm in that way. so yeah, they’re just his dancers, and they need the space to pursue their own future job opportunities.
but oh my gosh, i looooove them with seunghan… what do i do???
anyways here’s his m/vs!! show my son some love. seunghan is the guy in the middle. he looks like a lil black cat... kyo is the tall blonde and yul is the tatted up one!
edit: this video just dropped last night and omgggg i want to make a separate post with new analyses of the dynamics, especially between kyo and yul. but i’ll save that for another day, maybe when we get even more content. for now, just a few quick points...
this video finally made me realize who kyo looks like and reminds me of: huang zitao, aka my first-ever ult in k-pop. they have very similar side profiles, in my opinion, especially in the upper part of the face—the eyes and nose area. kyo is also a very tall and lanky boy, which makes the resemblance hit even harder.
anyway, they were all so cute, and it was nice to see seunghan and yul warm up toward the end, getting all fiery and sassy while competing to make halo-halo.
